The COST <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cost.eu\/about\/strategy\/excellence-and-inclusiveness\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Excellence and Inclusiveness Policy<\/a> strongly encourages gender balance of research networks, as well as the take up of leadership positions by (young) women COST Action participants. As such, COST aims to ensure equal opportunities and gender-friendly career advancement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Advancing gender equality in research and innovation is a key objective of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/info\/research-and-innovation\/strategy\/strategy-2020-2024\/democracy-and-rights\/gender-equality-research-and-innovation_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">European Union\u2019s gender equality policy<\/a>. The idea is to encourage COST Actions to incorporate a gender dimension in their activities and provide suggestions on how to advance gender equality in what they do. The GEP is a living document, allowing for details to be developed, adjusted, and updated over time, thereby increasing its long-term impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of our main recommendations is for COST Actions to develop their own Gender Equality Plan as a way of guiding all network activities in this area: outlining the state-of-play, setting KPIs, identifying best practice and challenges.
